Felix Neureuther, world-class ski racer and internationally recognized public favorite, dedicates himself to his heart's topic: sustainability in the Alps.
What few people know: The Neureuthers have been ambassadors of the mountains for generations: as scientists, expedition travelers, painters, skiers and visionaries.
In this spirit, Neureuther tells of his favorite tours into the world of peaks, glaciers, mountain lakes, and waterfalls, and provides emotional insights into an animal and plant world worth protecting
He looks back to the pioneers of the Alps and at the same time forward to today's "heroes of our mountains" - conservationists who are working on solutions for the future to preserve the Alps habitat as we know it for our children.
In parallel with the book, the National Geographic in-house production "Rescue for the Alps - On the Road with Felix Neureuther" will be broadcast, celebrating its German TV premiere on September 20, 2021 at 9:45 pm.

About the authors:

Felix Neureuther is the most successful German ski racer in the World Cup.
He won 13 races and five World Cup medals, in 2019 he ended his skiing career.
For many years, he has been promoting young skiers and teaching children to enjoy exercise through his "Felix Neureuther Foundation"
He takes a critical look at sustainability in international sports and wants to spark more enthusiasm among the population for nature conservation and environmental protection.
Michael Ruhland has been editor-in-chief at Bergsteiger magazine since 2012.
and authored the book "Bergmenschen" with 30 interviews and portraits of professional alpinists.
Bernd Ritschel has been photographing the mountains of Europe and the world for 30 years and has published more than 30 illustrated books, countless magazine articles for National Geographic and GEO, among others.
