Also suitable for lithium batteries |
Product description
In a touring vehicle, the on-board battery is primarily charged when the vehicle is stationary (charger, solar, fuel cell, etc.). If the vehicle stands unused for a longer period of time, the starting battery is increasingly discharged by the battery disconnection. However, many vehicles also load the start battery during the season, as some consumers (radio, multimedia, parking lights, alarm system, etc.) are always connected to it.
The standby charger ensures that the starting battery is also charged, depending on the charge level of the on-board battery. The standby charger is suitable for all types of on-board batteries, including LiFePO4 (lithium).
Charge to the start battery
In standby mode, the on-board battery and the start battery are separated from each other. No current can flow in either direction. This is also useful to protect the start battery during standstill periods. Otherwise, it would be discharged together with the on-board battery by the consumers and the vehicle could no longer be started.
However, it also prevents the start battery from being charged if there is more than enough current on the on-board battery, for example through solar power. Or the on-board battery is charged by a charger at the parking place, which has no special output for the start battery. Some touring vehicles also draw some power from the start battery when stationary (radio, clock, immobilizer, alarm)
In order to also supply these additional consumers with power from the on-board battery, we have developed the standby chargers. The devices monitor the voltages of the two battery systems and current is released as required. With its 5 A, the Standby-LaderPro can also compensate for standby consumers. If you use lithium batteries (LiFePO4) as on-board batteries, you must always use the Standby-LaderPro
