Product description
Caratec Audio CAS203 sound system for fully integrated motorhomes with speakers in the side panel. The active Caratec Plug & Play sound system CAS203 and optimizes the sound of the existing speakers in the vehicle. It consists of a compact 4-channel amplifier with integrated DSP, a subwoofer and a plug & play wiring harness.
The active Caratec Plug & Play sound system consists of a compact amplifier (4-channel) with integrated DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and a subwoofer. The amplifier optimizes the sound of the speakers in the vehicle and drives the powerful subwoofer. This creates a completely new and convincing sound experience in the blink of an eye. The sound detaches itself from the speakers and floats above the dashboard. The subwoofer and the relief of the originally installed speakers from low frequencies create a much clearer, lively sound image. Speech intelligibility is also significantly improved. This results in music enjoyment even at low volumes.
Suitable for all radios except the original Fiat radio. Suitable for vehicles with speakers in the trim on the side of the footwell. Possibly existing speakers in the living area will continue to be controlled by the radio.
The plug & play wiring harness with adapter for the radio's plug enables connection and installation in a very short time; separate connections to the vehicle are not required. The subwoofer is usually mounted under the passenger seat or the driver's seat. If there is no space there, it is also possible to mount it in another place (e.g. behind the driver's seat instead of the cover). If required, a 2m extension cable CAZ100L is optionally available.
Caratec's sound systems use digital amplifiers to drive the vehicle's loudspeakers and also offer a dedicated subwoofer. On the one hand, the standard loudspeakers are relieved because they only have to play in their original frequency ranges and are relieved of bass reproduction - that alone gives significantly better sound quality. On the other hand, the control is done with considerably more power. In the case of this sound system with four standard speakers, that's two 20 watt sine wave outputs and an additional two 40 watt outputs for the subwoofer channels. The total output is 120 watts (sine wave) or 240 watts (music). This is made possible by a high-tech amplifier with a circuit board that is just half the size of a postcard.
It contains a converter that converts the analog signals from the four speaker outputs of the standard radio into digital material. This is processed by a digital sound processor (DSP) with 56-bit resolution and 50 MIPS computing power located on the same circuit board, which optimizes the frequency responses to suit the respective vehicle interior. Low-noise 24-bit digital-to-analog converters are used to convert the signals back into analog signals for driving the loudspeakers.
Neither under- nor overvoltage can harm the amplifier; it is insensitive to short circuits to ground or positive and has an overtemperature protection. The subwoofer placed under the passenger seat has a
Bass-reflex construction with high-pass filter, measures 8 liters net volume and has a power handling of 100 watts sine. The impedance of the 165-millimeter woofer is two times two ohms. Its hand-scooped cellulose cone is particularly torsion-resistant, is reliably guided by a long-term stable rubber surround even at large excursions, and is protected by a steel cover.
The drive is provided by a double voice coil in combination with a particularly generously dimensioned ferrite magnet, which results in optimal Thiele/Small parameters. The high-pass filter provides a lower lower cut-off frequency and higher maximum sound pressure level with reduced distortion. This effort results in a great sound experience, as the extensive listening sessions revealed.
