about the author
Wolfgang Ries was born in Tauberfranken in 1960. He was active in youth work on a voluntary basis from an early age. Parallel to his training as an electrical engineer, he switched from being a counselor to working in the kitchen at a camp. Here he learned very quickly what it means to cook for children in the rustic environment without electricity and running water
He has written down his experiences and recipes from 25 years of tent camp cooking in this cookbook. Since the end of his active camp career, other children's cookbooks and publications in numerous magazines have followed. He continues to give cooking courses for children and parents.
Short description
This tent camp cookbook describes the "art" of cooking for large groups under the simplest of conditions. From menu planning to the final buffet, it accompanies the reader in all typical camp kitchen activities and provides support with valuable tips, examples and checklists
The recipes have been tried and tested many times and are very popular with children and young people. Step by step, the preparation of the mostly fresh, healthy ingredients is explained in detail, so that even beginners can conjure up delicious dishes with zing on the table. The recipes are rounded off with tips and tricks, some of which make the work much easier and prevent potential problems.
