about the authors
Markus Gründel has been a passionate hiker and hobbyist since childhood and loves technical gadgets. A trained banker, he travels mostly in Germany and Scandinavia on foot, by bike, or by boat. Shortly after he first turned his hobby into a career and switched to the outdoor industry, he found his first geocache in 2002 and has since fallen for the fascination of modern scavenger hunts
With the success of his book "Geocaching" he was able to realize himself for the second time and is now known as Germany's first full-time geocacher. Melanie Lipka has been an avid cartoonist since childhood. Besides books, comics and mangas, she is also fascinated by geocaching. After a key experience at a night cache, she created her first short comic, which was so well received in one of Germany's largest geocaching forums that the monthly comic is now established in the geocaching community. She is also no longer a stranger to children's books. Together with an Austrian author, she developed a series of supplementary materials to her witch stories for schools and parents.
Short description
Markus Gründel, whose books "Geocaching I and II" are considered German-language standard works and who is known as "der Gründel", has conceived a novel manual for geocaching beginners together with Melanie Lipka, who as "Mietzecacherin" enriches the German-language geocaching community with comics. With diverse comics and pictures, the basics of the modern scavenger hunt are comprehensively presented in a refreshingly playful way. What is seen is deepened by the accompanying text on the opposite page in each case. This appeals especially to visually oriented and younger people.
