Preparation, equipment, weather and orientation, techniques of mountain hiking, alpine dangers and rescue measures, behavior in the mountains, appendix (addresses, weather forecasts, websites,..)
about the author
Tim Castagne (47) has been associated with the mountains and hiking for many years and has gained his experience in various forms of mountain sports, such as expeditions in the high Arctic, paragliding, sport climbing, as a youth leader in the German Alpine Club, but also as a father of two children who love hiking
His tours have taken him from the lowlands of Schleswig-Holstein to the Alps, Scandinavia, Spitzbergen, Greenland, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Scotland, among other places - sometimes as a solo tour, with friends or as a family trip. He has compiled the beautiful experiences, but also the unforeseeable obstacles and stupid mistakes he encountered on his travels into a very personal guidebook.
Brief description
This outdoor handbook is aimed both at beginners, who will find useful tips for their first tours in the mountains, and at "old hands" who want to refresh their knowledge or are just looking for a thorough checklist before the next hike. Clearly structured and limited to the essentials, the points relevant to mountain hiking are covered
In addition to tips on the right equipment and clothing and on the selection of tours, the book also contains easy-to-understand explanations of areas such as weather and orientation in the terrain. This OutdoorHandbook is made for practical use and is a valuable aid as a reminder in the backpack, helping even inexperienced nature lovers to successful mountain experiences.
