warns of virus threat | with descriptive traffic light display |
powerful and reliable sensor | flexible installation |
Product description
Every person constantly emits CO2 and aerosols (liquid particles that can transmit infections) when breathing. These aerosols and any viruses they may contain cannot be measured directly. However, by measuring the amount of CO2 in a closed room, the aerosol concentration can be inferred. From this, the risk of infection can be deduced and reduced.
By means of a complex algorithm, an air quality value based on CO2 equivalent is determined from a sum signal of all detected gases and displayed as a clear traffic light according to a WHO-compliant scale. While "good room air" (<600 ppm) is indicated by a green LED, a red LED warns if a room must be urgently ventilated or left. In addition, the modern metal oxide sensor also measures the VOC value, interprets it and displays the value as a traffic light. VOCs (volatile organic compounds) cause eye irritation, headaches, fatigue and dizziness, which are summarised under the term SBS (sick building syndrome).
VOCs are hydrocarbon compounds from 2 major sources: Bio-effluents (vapors/odors) from human respiration, perspiration, and digestion, and vapors from building materials (carpeting, paints, adhesives, etc.) and furnishings (furniture, printers, copiers, etc.) or cleaners, perfumes, and cigarette smoke. While simple CO2 sensors do not detect these substances and do not react to them, this is possible with the modern semiconductor sensor and its VOC/CO2 equivalent sensor algorithm. This is what makes the product an "air quality sensor" and also signals poor air quality where simple CO2 sensors drop out.
With the reliable information provided by the sensor, healthier conditions for people indoors can be created in the future.

Meaning of the coloured LED:
Color | Co² in ppm | VOC in ppb | Air quality | Recommendations |
Dark red | > 3000 (Buzzer starts at 5 Hertz) | > 2200 (Buzzer starts with 5 Hertz) | unacceptable | Ventilate immediately. Use room only if unavoidable. |
Light red | 1800-3000 (Buzzer starts with 2 Hertz) | 1600-2200 (Buzzer starts with 2 Hertz) | low | Increased ventilation is absolutely necessary. |
Orange | 1000 - 1800 | 1000 - 1600 | medium | Ventilation is necessary. Check and improve ventilation behaviour. |
Yellow | 600 - 1000 | 500 - 1000 | good | No relevant concerns. Regular ventilation is recommended. |
Green | 0 - 600 | 0 - 500 | very good | No concerns. No action required. |
