Product description
With model no. 07 Outdoor Junior, Opinel is offering a model that bridges the gap between the children's knife with a round tip that has been successful for years and the range of knives with a conventional, pointed blade. At the same time, Opinel drew on the experience gained with the models in the Outdoor series. The knife has a 12C27 stainless steel blade with a slightly rounded tip that can be locked in place using the Virobloc lock. The handle material used is glass fiber reinforced polyamide, a proven material from the Outdoor and DIY series. A practical signal whistle is integrated into the handle.
Blade with round tip
The blade tip is rounded to offer the greatest possible safety during use. It is also the ideal blade for painting.
Martensitic stainless steel
The stainless steel of Opinel blades is an optimized grade that guarantees both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The blade has excellent sharpness and high abrasion resistance (wear resistance), which allows it to withstand regular contact with hard materials such as ceramics before needing to be sharpened. Stainless steel has the advantage that, unlike carbon steel, it requires no special maintenance under normal conditions of use. Nevertheless, it can reach its limits if it comes into contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent, etc.) over a long period of time.
Handle
The knife handle is injected with glass fiber reinforced polyamide, which guarantees high resistance to impacts, water and extreme temperatures (-40 °C to +80 °C). A signal whistle without a ball is integrated at the end of the handle. It works in all weathers, with a strength of 110 dB and a range of around 300 meters outdoors.
Safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safe use), it is now also possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safe transportation).
