When and why should awnings be cleaned and impregnated?
In most cases, camping tents are already impregnated by the manufacturer, so you can start your camping adventure immediately after purchase. Through constant use and the various weather influences such as sunlight or rain, the protection against moisture is lost. If you don't clean and waterproof your trekking tent regularly, it will lose its longevity and, in the worst case, let water through.You should clean and waterproof a tent if the water no longer beads up properly. To avoid any unpleasant surprises on your next camping trip, it is recommended that you check the impregnation before the next tour. To do this, take the garden hose and test whether the water rolls off the surface of the tent. If the upper fabric of the awning becomes saturated with water, you must clean the caravan awning and use an impregnation agent. Generally, tent impregnation is recommended every two to three years at the latest.

How do you impregnate a tent?
There are various means of impregnating tents. For synthetic fibre materials such as polyester a waterproofing spray is suitable for the tent. The application is simple and uncomplicated:- Clean the tent thoroughly and close it completely.
- Then spray the clean caravan awning evenlyoutdoors.
- Allow the waterproofing spray to dryfor several hours. All done!
- Dilute the indicated amount of impregnation agent with water.
- Then apply the agent to the tentwith a sponge or brush.
- Allow the impregnating agent to dry. All done!
